PhD Position on Algorithms for Optimal Decision Making Under Uncertainty in Sustainable Energy Systems
DESCRIPTION:
The project aims to develop innovative solutions and algorithms to support decision-making under uncertainty for energy systems, with a focus on environmental sustainability. It will adopt an industrial ecology and energy symbiosis perspective, examining the entire energy value chain and its interactions with the natural environment.
The goal is to create decision-making tools that balance costs and environmental sustainability for energy systems. This will promote ecological transition in the digital transformation era for both public administration and industries.
The project aims to encourage a multidisciplinary approach by incorporating expertise from both the information engineering and industrial engineering domains. In the project, we will leverage close collaborations with one of the largest public research institutions in Italy and a group of facilitators in the energy and renewables markets.
COMPETENCES:
During the PhD, you will learn systems thinking and data science to analyze and discuss core aspects of sustainability in energy systems, and you will learn effective analytical tools relevant for today’s society, and how to apply these. Topics of interest will range from industrial ecology to energy symbiosis, including theory and applications of decision-making under uncertainty.
